We did have a very special experience this morning. We had just been visiting with the Joneses, the new family who arrived last night - and they got the call that the facilitator was in the lobby for their first meeting with their 10-week old daughter and the foster caregiver. We quickly left their room--but got to see the beautiful little girl on our way down the hall!
Hannah is still not feeling quite herself - we had another quiet afternoon and even Jacob didn't want to go swimming today! The time here is dragging and wearing on all of us. The kids have done really well with all the things they have experienced here, but it's been a lot to deal with at times. Peter said today that he couldn't WAIT to get back to work! Yes, I think that was after he waited in the car with all three kids while I ran back into the grocery store for one thing we forgot!!
Here is a scenery shot for you today too - we enjoyed watching some ocean waves crashing the shore before dinner tonight.
We had dinner with the Joneses and that was very fun. They took this photo for us in the lobby of the restaurant. I see now that the camera caught Boston reaching up to that cabinet above the fish tank - he is a fun and curious boy. Tonight getting everyone ready for bed - he was anxious for his bath, pulling on his clothes, etc. I was putting the dinner leftovers in the fridge before starting the water in the tub. He came over to me, turned my face to his with his hand, and said "MaMa tu tu" (bath)! I loved that and we did go right to the tub then. Of course, he calls Peter MaMa also! Bye for now - Sending our love across the miles of ocean and land between us! Lois

How wonderful to hear him call you (both of you!) MaMa. He seems to be adjusting very well. What a long time for all of you to wait and come home. You are coping so well,, with a great sense of humor, and making the best of a long stay away from the familiar and comfortable.

Oh how darling- Mama tu tu. You must have melted. (even more so than in the hot heat there! lol)
ReplyDeleteI can imagine that everyone is getting quite restless. We are also a little impatient here- waiting for you. Come on paperwork. So great that you have another family to visit with now. Nice distraction and I am sure that you are a huge help to them.
Hugs!
Hello
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to be meeting and helping another family. Just keep reminding yourselves that you are on the short end of your visit now. And your beautiful family is worth all of the waiting that you are doing. I know how you are all feeling as this is when we were getting stir crazy too. Just keep asking the embassy to keep on Manila.
Well you and Peter are being called Ma Ma and in this house we are all called Pa pa.
Anamaria liked seeing the pictures and knew you were at the Tide Table.
We will be praying for the paperwork to hustle up and get to you.
Take Care and Hugs to all,
Jerry,Deb, Anamaria & Lydia
Hi from Chris, Mary, Shawn and Elena
ReplyDeleteYou and Peter make a great team! Yesterday, we cut our vacation short because E wasn't feeling well and just wanted to be home. That was a nice option to have.
We talked about how all of you have worked through so much this trip. Facilitating Boston's transition, and also appreciating the emotional growth H and J have gone through reconnecting with their birth families. I can only imagine all the questions and feelings you have processed with the three children. Taking time at Laura beach where the kids are running and playing on the beach and in the water sounds like a great way to have Stenstrom family time :)
Love to all!
